Financial contributions and eligible property donations may be tax deductible as allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for donations unless specifically stated.

For donated property, Dekens Community Store provides a description of the items received, but the donor is responsible for determining fair market value for tax purposes.

The IRS says acknowledgments for donations of $250+ should include the organization name, cash amount or property description, and whether goods or services were provided; for property gifts, the charity describes the property but does not value it.
